I got this tip from a fellow duckie collector, but haven't tried it myself so be careful and make sure you only try this on unpainted vinyl:
Use a pumice stone to buff off shallow stains and pen marks. My friend says it leaves no marks on the surface of the duck! I'm going to try it one of these days on a "test duck" and will let everyone know the results.
