She is right. Since I'm trying to avoid doing anything actually useful this morning, I did a search. Found this site that talks about a Piyo Piyo in an anime series that is definitely a chick. Says the name is a representation of the cheep-cheep sound of a chick.

Here's a cute page about the Piyo Piyo we see now. The author suffers from the same confusion as we do.

I just got a bathroom set from Walmart Canada that identifies them as ducks. The French side of the package had a sticker that said "canard" or duck. I carefully peeled the sticker to see what was originally printed - "grenouille". This means frog, so we know it's not a frog. Walmart says so.
To me it looks like a duck. And in any real debate, I go back to Charlotte's original rule. It's a duck if I say it's a duck.
Along the way I identified a little Sanrio critter I found a while ago. I have a tiny clipboard sporting a little fellow with a rubber duck sitting on top of his head, all-Japanese printing on it. Turns out his name is Landry. He's a racoon and his rubber duck best friend is called Pea.

Time for a nap now.
